I write about American culture for the New York Times Magazine, where I have authored features and cover stories about addiction, youth culture, sex and sexuality, sports, and music. I’m also a contributor to The Daily Beast and a contributing writer for The Advocate. Previously, I was a senior writer at Boston Magazine and a staff writer at the San Francisco Chronicle. I’ve also contributed to Sports Illustrated, Details, Slate, Out, and others, and I’ve taught nonfiction and magazine writing at Northeastern University and Emerson College.
In addition to America Anonymous, in January 2010 Simon & Schuster will publish American Voyeur: Dispatches from the Far Reaches of Modern Life, a collection of my previously published writing about youth culture, identity, and sex and sexuality.
